Matt Fitch has been coaching basketball for 38 years, including seven at Grace Davis High School in Modesto and 31 years at Elk Grove High. He has been coaching women's basketball since 1985. Coach Fitch was head coach of the Lady Herd from 1985-86 to 1990-91.
Coach Fitch was born and raised in Oakland and played basketball at Diablo Valley College and at Sacramento State.
Coach Fitch retired from teaching in June 2003. He remains committed to the Elk Grove girls basketball program where he works on individual player skills, with an emphasis on post players
