VARSITY TEAM PREVIEW

The 2003-04 Varsity team at Elk Grove enters the season with high expectations. After a 2nd place finish in Delta League and reaching the Quarterfinals in the Section Playoffs last year, the Lady Herd has it sights on a league championship and deep playoff run to Arco Arena. Returning is All-City Third Team point guard and leading scorer Jennifer Enos coming off an amazing sophomore year. Joining her in the back court is last season's third leading scorer and rebounder Rebekah Focht. Together Enos and Focht, both Juniors, provide one of the areas most impressive tandems of offensive firepower. Senior Rebecca Bautista moves to the starting line-up as the second point guard in Coach Benson's two point guard system. Junior Lidiya Kosachevich also earns a starting assignment as a small forward. In the middle, sophomore Shanice Brown provides defensive challenges for opposing teams with her size and ability in the low block. Providing depth off the bench in the backcourt are juniors Meagan Schreiner, Brittany Thomas, Krystina Johnson, and sophomore Tori Ewing. In the frontcourt, senior Heather Gale, juniors Ginille Lazaro, Karole Blythe, and sophomore Jenna Alexander provide relief off the bench.
